The Perth Podiatrist
For those who don’t know me, I’m originally from a farm in rural New South Wales. I moved to Perth over two and a half years ago and am proud to call myself a Perth Podiatrist!
I was freelancing all across the city when I first moved here. This was great to enable me to learn how the city functions. I very quickly learnt that there is a rivalry of North vs South of the river – who would have thought?
If you ask my friends, family or clients they will laugh and say that I’m more than obsessed with the foot and ankle and even worse when it comes to shoes. The Perth Podiatrist that’s obsessed with shoes? Yes. Good, supportive and stylish shoes. The foot is such an intricate lattice of bones, joints, ligaments and tendons that I look at it as if it were a piece of artwork.
I found I was having these fashion consultations with my clients. We were together trying to pick stylish yet supportive shoes to help with their foot pain. I was also doing medical pedicures and word very quickly spread throughout any community that I went.
This is how The Perth Podiatrist created The Foot Studio. I needed a modern and innovative design studio to match the Podiatry work I was doing. And so, The Foot Studio popped up and was born in Mosman Park.
I was also very frustrated with the perception that people have of a Podiatrist. “You deal with gross feet all day,” people would tell me. Before choking on my coffee I’d then set them straight. Everyone who has feet are blessed to have them. We need to be proactive about our health and look after them. It’s our healthy feet that enable us to exercise, to go to the grocery store and buy healthy ingredients for our families, to walk on the sand and swim in the beach. It’s what our feet allow us to do which is so vital to our wellbeing and something I like to portray on my instagram account @thefootstudio. By indirectly showing what a healthy lifestyle is I’m hoping to change the perceptions that people have of Podiatrists and hopefully even influence younger people to get in to this amazing profession in the future.
This is why I’m proud to be a Perth Podiatrist. I get to do something I love, helping people with real life problems and make a difference in the community.
“Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
