The common foot, ankle and lower limb conditions our podiatrists assess and manage, grouped by where you feel them. See Pain & Movement for our assessments and treatments.
A bony bump at the base of the big toe as the toe angles towards the others, which can make shoes uncomfortable. We look at your footwear, foot mechanics and pain, and discuss options such as footwear changes, padding, orthoses and when a surgical opinion may be worth considering.
Pain, burning or pins and needles under the ball of the foot or between the toes, often worse in tight or high-heeled shoes. Management may include footwear advice, offloading, orthoses and, where appropriate, injection therapy.
Toes that curl, claw or retract, such as hammer toes and claw toes, which can rub in shoes and cause corns or pain under the ball of the foot. We look at footwear, padding, offloading and toe devices, and discuss when a surgical opinion may be worth considering.
Pain and stiffness in the big toe joint, especially when pushing off while walking or running. Footwear changes, orthoses and offloading can help reduce load through the joint.
Pain under the ball of the foot behind the big toe, often in runners and dancers. We help with offloading, padding, footwear and orthoses, and refer for imaging where needed.
Pain under the ball of the foot near the second toe, sometimes with the toe starting to drift or lift. Early taping, offloading and footwear changes can help settle it.
Aching through the arch or inside of the foot, sometimes with the arch flattening over time. We assess how your feet move and take load, and use strengthening, footwear advice and orthoses or bracing where needed.
Pain and sometimes swelling along the inside of the ankle and arch, which can lead to the arch flattening over time if left untreated. Management focuses on tendon loading exercises, with footwear, orthoses or bracing to support the foot.

Burning, tingling or numbness on the top of the foot, often from pressure of laces or tight footwear on the small nerves. We help with footwear and lacing changes, padding and other treatments to settle the nerve.
Pain on the outside of the midfoot, often after an ankle sprain or a change in activity. Management may include mobilisation, taping, padding and strengthening.
Pain under the heel, often sharpest with the first steps in the morning or after sitting, and sometimes called plantar fasciitis. The structures around the heel become irritated and sensitive, and load, footwear, strength and general health can all play a part. Management often combines several treatments.
