Courtney has always been deeply connected to the ocean, nature and the outdoors. He studied Marine Biology and Zoology at the University of Western Australia and spent many years working on the water as a boat captain and deckhand across a wide range of industries including maritime construction, oil and gas, bulk cargo and tug operations. And for a bit of fun, he spent a season driving adventure jet boats and parasailing.
Over the years he’s picked up an impressive range of practical skills and qualifications including boat captain, marine engineer, advanced rigger, drone pilot, beekeeper, working dog trainer and environmentalist. He can drive just about any piece of machinery from forklifts to cranes and everything in between. He’s a passionate spearfisher and freediver, an archer and marksman, and somehow also manages to be our in-house social media, sales and marketing brain.
He also has an incredible connection with food. Courtney loves growing food, catching food, diving for food, harvesting food and bringing it home to prepare and feed the family. From harvesting honey and tending veggie patches, to catching lobsters or bringing home venison, he has an amazing ability to transform it into something truly special in the kitchen.
Today Courtney works in conservation and wildlife management with his company, Terana Environmental, while also serving as Director at The Foot Studio.
Outside of work he’s usually in or on the ocean, deep in the forest, or somewhere very remote in between. He loves the quiet moments and the lack of phone reception that give him time to reconnect with the land and the natural beauty around him.
On top of all that, he’s an incredible dad to his two girls.
We’re not sure how many things one person can learn in a lifetime, but Courtney seems determined to learn about and understand them all.
